Обобщены данные о строении и корреляции сводных разрезов моласс Западного Предкавказья, составленных на основе многолетнего изучения, а также био- и магнитостратиграфического датирования. Выделены циклы накопления континентальных отложений Западного Предкавказья, коррелятные основным этапам формирования орогена. Оценена динамика новейших поднятий Западного и Северо-Западного сегментов орогена, разделенных Пшехско-Адлерской зоной разломов. Приводятся данные о существовании суши Западного Кавказа в среднем и Северо-Западного – в позднем миоцене. Установлено, что первый импульс горообразования Западного Кавказа относится к сармату, а его резкое ускорение – к квартеру. Составленная серия палеогеографических карт Западного Кавказа и Предкавказья в неогене–квартере отражает динамику кавказской орогении, береговых линий Предкавказских морей и историю формирования речной сети территории. Установлено, что неоген-четвертичная речная сеть Западного Кавказа и Предкавказья выстроена в виде трех зон, отвечающих по возрасту различным этапам становления орогена. Каждой из них свойственна собственная ориентировка палеодолин, связанная с конфигурацией поднятых на разных этапах водораздельных поверхностей в их истоках и береговых линий, принимающих морских или озерных бассейнов – в устьях.</p></abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>неотектоника</kwd><kwd>горообразование</kwd><kwd>палеогеография</kwd><kwd>морфоструктура</kwd><kwd>молассы</kwd><kwd>Большой Кавказ</kwd><kwd>Предкавказье</kwd><kwd>Понто-Каспий</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Дистанционные геолого-геоморфологические исследования выполнены в рамках ра- бот по бюджетной теме ГИН РАН № FMMG-2023-0006.
