Геоморфологи используют два понятия (образа) земной поверхности: (а) математический (поверхность двух измерений с деформациями в третьем) и (б) физический (как переходный слой между литосферой и подвижными геосферами). Широкое распространение конвергентных форм рельефа является фундаментальным свойством его структуры. Понятие о генезисе рельефа следует использовать для описания его состояний. Человек существует в физическом слое земной поверхности и это следует учитывать при изучении проблем социальной геоморфологии.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The theory of geomorphology is much more stable than those of other earth sciences. There are two ways of the Earth surface presentation in geomorphology: (a) mathematical image as a two-dimensional plane with deformations in the third dimension; and (b) physical image as an intermediate layer between the lithosphere and mobile geospheres. The Earth relief includes a great deal of convergent forms.
