Abstract

General geologic principles that underlie paleogeomorphologic, morphofacial, morphostratigraphic and other methods of geomorphologic analysis are considered. Particularities of using these principles are shown taking the landforms' analysis of Gorny Altai as an example.

Ecological and Applied Geomorphology

Abstract

The regional classification of extremely intensive and dangerous geomorphologic processes is founded. The main types of manifestation of such processes are characterized. The map of their spatial distribution is compiled. The zoning of the Belarus territory for the probability of the extreme process occurrence is proposed.

Abstract

Morphostructural and tectonic-lithologic analysis were fulfilled for this territory in the scale 1:100000. By the overlapping of the maps compiled the morpholithosystems of the area were delimited. They are considered as environmental components of landscape.

Abstract

The paleogeomorphologic investigations have enabled to reveal the most mineral-promising morphostructures, to determine the age of denudation uncovering of volcanic morphostructures. The erosion of bedrock deposits produced the placer formation, the direction on consequent transport of their material was determined. Some prospective deposits were anticipated.

Abstract

Technogenic landforms are one of the main factors of bad environmental situation in the road landscapes. The constructing of banquettes, ditches etc. cause the changes of type and intensity of exogenic processes, the redistribution of the runoff, the rise of groundwater table and the appearance of processes not incident to the territory. The accumulation and denudation processes change the stability of the landforms. The methods of evaluation of such stability may be improved by analysis of dynamic running of relief.

Abstract

The dredging along the waterway of the Ob' became the main factor of its channel formation. At the branching channel segments dredging causes the redistribution of the runoff, conduces to overgrowing of shallows, to consolidation of islands and island massives. It concentrates the runoff in the navigable channels and intensifies the bottom erosion. The abortion of dredging leads to rapid accumulation: in some channels 3-7 m sediment masses were accumulated during 10 years, total volume reaching 1-3*106 m3.

Abstract

The contemporary bioindicational approach to the geomorphologic problems is considered. A description of such methods and their new classification is given. Authors, taking two test sites in the Moscow Region as an example, illustrate the use of bioindication in morphologic and depositional analysis.

Abstract

Since the beginning of Moscow city large transformations have taken place within the Neglinnaya river valley. Channel canalization of the river has turned its valley to a very peculiar geomorphologic system, which has no natural analogues in the similar physiographic conditions - high humidity and absence of karst processes. Though being channeled it has large influence on the processes in its basin, but those are not the former natural processes. The precedently predominant sheet wash, swamping, river erosion and accumulation gave place to suffusion and consequent land subsidence and ground water rise. Some new, specifically urban processes (underground corrosion of pipes, traffic vibration etc.) appeared. The geomorphologic shame of the river basin was compiled and the most dangerous processes intensity was evaluated.

Abstract

Local paleoseismic dislocations have been found in the Kola region as a result of specialized geologic and geomorphologic investigations. They are interpreted as a direct evidence of tectonic disturbances by strong ancient earthquakes, affecting both topographical relief and the bedrock. Paleoseismic dislocations are concentrated in specific localities - paleoseismic areas. The areas coincide with the position o particular Precambrian and neotectonic structures, which are characterized by differential movements.
