Three problems of mountain geomorphology are discussed: morphologic nomenclature and classification of the mountains; determinative characteristics of landforms transitional from mountain to plain types, gravitational spreading of the mountains. Veriants of their possible solution are suggested, in particular vertical and lateral velocities of gravitational spreading of mountains were evaluated, using the Navier-Stokes equation. At the acceptable values of lithosphere viscosity they may reach tenths of mm per year, which is comparable with tecnotic uprise velocity and denudation rates.

Mechanisms of N-Q progeny in the new-formed and regenerated orogenic belts, intermountain and platform regions of Eurasia are described. The development of fold, frappe-thrust, arch and arch-block mountains is described in details, as well as formation of intracontinental and marginal rifts, suture-block orogens and block mountains of the periphery of the continent. The factors of neo-orogenesis within the continent interior are discussed.

Formation of the longitudinal river profile in the mountain regions and the causes and mechanisms of its deformation are under consideration. The formulas of equilibrium profile are given. According to the types of channel processes the mountain rivers in the strict sense may be distinguished from some large rivers in the mountain regions which are of plain type. Variants of channel processes zonality are described.

The description of Central-Asian mountain belt history since Late Proterozoic is given. The lateral crustal movements in the region correlate with process of mountain building on different hierarchical levels. On the basis of morphostructural analysis 6 orogenic stages are distinguished in the Middle Asia and Eastern Kazakhstan.

On the base of morphostructural analysis of the Novaya Zemlya and Vaigach islands and adjacent Barents Sea and Kara Sea shelves the intensity of neotectonic movements in the region was evaluated. Relative intensity and direction of lateral movements of thrust and shear type were determined for the first time. The author traces similarity of neo-geodynamic processes here to a kind of seduction, which is taking place in the extremely weak form.

The first attempt to evaluate the aesthetic features of mountain relief of Alps and Caucasus has been made on the base of simple morphometric characteristics. The necessity and methodic of such evaluation are discussed. Parameters like maximum altitudes, the depth of valleys, extension of seashore etc. may correlate with beauty of relief. Parameters compared were normalized, the maximum value was taken as l00%. In contrary to common opinion Alps exceeds Caucasus by many characteristics. Taken aesthetic attribute of Alps for 100%, Caucasus appears to have only 76%.

In early papers of the first half of the XIX century the Boris-and-Gleb Mountain on Taman' peninsular was described as mud volcano. This opinion has not been challenged until nowadays. The author submits that this mountain is an ordinary farewell rock or diapir fold.

Classification of barrier lakes of the Sayan-Baikal mountain region has been fulfilled on the base of such attributes as location and size, genesis (the origin of dam), age. According to the morphology barrier lakes may be divided into two groups: 1) lake basins in the mountain valleys, the area doesn't exceed several km2, 2) large lakes in the depressions, having the area more then 10 km2. According to the dam type there are 5 classes of lakes: 1) collapselandslide, 2) moraine-dammed, 3) lava-dammed, 4) formed by tectonic antithetic fault, 5) periglacial. There are also nowaday lakes and ancient (reconstructed) ones

Geomorphologic features of the main lake basins of the region are described. Morphogenetic classification of these landforms is worked out. Some approaches to further investigation of the lacusrtine morpho- and lithogenesis are discussed.

New data on the distribution of the rock landslides in the region are represented. The rock landslides may be divided into several morphodynamic types. The landslide-outlier is described for the first time as a type of breakdown structures.
