Abstract

Hypsographic curve was calculated for the- territory of the Russian Plane. 8482 values obtained by the grid 1х1 cm2 from the l:2500000 map were used. 35% of total area, including shelf and lowlands down to the -40 m, has altitudes within the interval 115-175 m. Another narrower maximum on the histogram lies within the interval -5-15 m. Histograms for two separate parts of the Plane - north-west one that had undergone the glaciation and south-east one that had not differ significantly. By their character one may assume the ascending type of relief development on the most part of the Plane and the existence of several regional denudational base levels within its limits.

Abstract

Landforms are considered as a form of existence of geological bodies. They form the geographical space and reveal themselves as necessary condition for origin, existence and development of several geographical spheres and their components. Geomorphology is the branch of the science that deals with the Earth's landforms and with the solving of contradictions between landforms and morphologenesis- the whole complex of landform's alterations.

Ecological and Applied Geomorphology

Abstract

The method of compiling special ecology-geomorphological maps is presented. It allows evaluating the possible influence of the neotectonic activisation of faults and splits upon environmental conditions and vulnerability of lands where oil- and gas-fields are exploiting. The map compiled for Russia had confirmed the connection of great number of large oil- and gas-fields with long-lived active faults.

Abstract

Quantitative evaluation of gully erosion - the destructive process on agricultural lands of Russia was fulfilled. The area of gullies in percents of total area was used as a parameter measured. The evaluations of recent and forecasted gully cutting were carried out. The values obtained were used for regionalisation and mapping of Russia territory by degree of land resources lost.

Abstract

An explanation of regional landforms features of Kola peninsula by undulatory movements of upper part of Earth's crust is proposed. The model of such processes is discussed. The chain of mountains in the middle of the peninsular was formed in Eocene-Pleistocene due to polefugal waves of compression. The regions of extention corresponded to synchronous submeridional waves.

Abstract

Alterations of the term "gully" meaning from the l3-th century till nowadays are analised. Some examples of changes of its content are given. In the result of these changes there is inconformity of russian and forcing names of erosional landforms. It puts an obstacles in translation from one language to another. Author suggests classification of landforms produced by ephemeral streams.

Abstract

The main features and conditions of erosional landforms development at the South-East of the Russian Plane are under consideration. Their regional peculiarities are described. Field investigations as well as remote sensing data of different scales were used.

Abstract

The conditions of ice-dams formation and subsequent floods are analysed as well as their interaction with the river bed. Different types of ice-traps (morphological, rate etc.) are characterised. Specific type of river erosion peculiar to such rivers only - cascade erosion - is described. The principle scheme of its development is given.

Abstract

For the first time on the base of removed leveling data the cartographic models of recent crustal movement's spatial and temporal variations have been compiled. Time periods of second, third and fourth quarters of the XX century were considered. Temporal variability of velocity direction, block character of velocity isolines, high gradients at the fault zones were revealed. Sublatitudinal and submeridional waves may be observed. Their origin is probably connected with changes of Earth's rotation and compression-extention forces as the result of lateral forth-back movements of Arabian plate.
